It is not either-or

Social media and a website solve different parts of the same problem. A platform helps you appear in feeds, talk to an audience, show ongoing work and test ideas quickly. A website organises the essential information, answers search intent and guides a visitor towards an enquiry, purchase or booking.

The useful question is not which channel survives. Define a job for each one. A local business may use its profile as the main source of attention while the site becomes the destination for campaigns, recommendations, QR codes and search queries.

Control and resilience

A profile operates under a platform’s rules. Algorithms, formats, reach and account access can change. Navigation is limited: an important service may disappear between posts, forcing a potential customer to explore several highlights just to find pricing or contact details.

On your own domain, you control structure, design, forms, analytics and integrations. Hosting is still a dependency, but a properly owned domain and portable data make switching possible. Register the domain to the business and avoid leaving every critical account with one supplier.

The 30-second test: can a new visitor understand what you offer, who it is for, the approximate cost and the next step? If those answers are scattered through old posts, you need a clearer information centre.

Customer journey and trust

A social profile is excellent evidence of activity: recent projects, customer stories, the people behind the company and day-to-day work. A website is better at a deliberate sequence: problem, solution, advantages, case studies, price or pricing logic, FAQs and a prominent action.

People rarely buy an expensive or complex service after one short video. They return, compare options, forward links to colleagues and verify details. A dedicated service or case-study page makes that process easier than a collection of disconnected posts.

A page can target a specific need, such as “business website development in Tallinn” or “website for a restaurant”. Search engines can match a query to a page with a clear heading, useful description, supporting questions and internal links.

SEO is not instant and never guarantees a position. A new domain needs sound technical setup, indexing, useful pages and time. But a good page can continue answering demand for months, while the normal lifecycle of a feed post is much shorter.

Use one consistent brand identity across your site, profiles and structured data. KAMERTON, Kamerton and local-language references should clearly point to the same studio and domain.

When social alone is enough

  • You are validating demand and the offer is still changing.
  • Sales are highly personal and enquiry volume is small.
  • Inventory changes daily and the platform catalogue already works.
  • You cannot keep even a small website accurate.

That can be a sensible starting point. Still protect the account with MFA, add backup administrators, document access and retain customer information only through lawful, appropriate processes.

The minimum useful website

A first release does not need dozens of pages. Many service businesses need a clear homepage, service sections or pages, selected work, FAQs, contact information and a form. Add required privacy information, basic analytics and accurate metadata.

A practical launch plan

Week 1: collect real questions

Use messages and calls to capture the language customers use for the problem.

Week 2: build one strong page

Explain the result, process, price or estimating logic and provide one primary CTA.

Week 3: connect the channels

Link social posts to the relevant service or case, not just the homepage.

Week 4: measure actions

Track forms, calls, contact clicks and lead quality rather than page views alone.
